‘APC ‘II Encourage More Women To Vie For Elective Positions ‘‘

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mrs. Hailmary Aipoh, has stated that the women wing of the party was committed to mentoring more women to vie for elective positions in the country.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP in Abuja, Aipoh noted that many women, who could have made positive changes in the country are left to waste at home, adding that such an attitude does not help in the development of the country.

“We are advocating for better representation round the federation.

The 36 women leaders of the APC, including the FCT, are all in support of these moves. Women should come out en mass to vote during elections. They are the mothers of these men, who train and nurture them and as such they can hold sensitive positions” she said.

She noted that Nigerian women shy aware from politics for fear of what the society perceives women in politics to be, adding that women in politics are not wayward, rather they are intelligent, educated and actively into capacity building, which is an important asset in policy-making.

The women leader stressed that Nigerian women need reorientation to come out of their shells and make impact maximally in politics, noting that women have always enjoyed the support and assistance of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, through his wife, Aisha.
