Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the September 2018 governorship election in the state, Dr Christopher Iyiola Omisore, has declared that both the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidates are no match for him in the forthcoming coming election.
Omisore said, despite that he would not join those sharing money to buy votes during the election, he would disgrace the candidates of the two major parties with a landslide victory in the poll.
He disclosed this at the National Secretariat of the SDP after receiving the certificate of return as the candidate of the party for the forthcoming election.
Omisore maintained that his ultimate ambition for seeking to govern the state is predicated on the determination to set the state free from the economic bondage and bad governance foisted on the state by the ruling APC.
According to him, ” the candidates of the two parties put together cannot match me in this contest. We are going to work hard and do everything legally possible to secure victory in the coming election.”
Omisore who condemned sharing of money during elections noted that “people try to use poverty in the land as an excuse to extort the masses. “
His words: Osun electorates know the calibre of the candidates they want to vote for. People are wise enough, salaries have not been paid, poverty everywhere. I will not join them in sharing money but with their money, we are going to embarrass them. We are not going to stop them, but we will disgrace them with their money during the election.”
While lauding the party for conducting a rancour-free primary election, Omisore said, ” today we are starting a new journey in the rescue of my people in Osun state from the misrule of APC.
“We thanked God that we have a rancour-free primary election, this shows that the party is ready to take over Osun state. This shows the strength of the part in the state. Don’t be surprised when Omisore scores over 1million votes in the coming poll.
Speaking earlier, the National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Shehu Gabam, disclosed that out of the three aspirants that participated in the direct primary conducted by the party, Omisore won with 123,405 votes, while the remaining two aspirants scored, 1,802 and 1,637 respectively.
Gabam said the party had promised all the aspirants that it will conduct a free, fair and transparent direct which the party had done perfectly.
According to the scribe of the party, ” This is the symbol of the SDP today and our aim is to create a paradigm shift. We are glad that the exercise was successful, free and fair, devoid of rancour. There is no mix-up at all. We are very confident that SDP will win the Osun election. The candidate is not a new face, not a free horn in the politics of Osun and Nigeria as a whole.”
He assured the candidate that the party will mobilise for him in order to win the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
