Hon Olajide Oguntodu, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the House of Assembly for Akure South Constituency 1, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently sign the new Electoral Act.
The usage of only ad hoc delegate for the party primary, according to Oguntodu, is “tough”
The primary had a total of 19 delegates, with Oguntodu receiving eight votes.
Ajayi Babatunde, Abiodun Oluwarotimi and Bankole Ajayi were among the candidates who ran against him.
Election materials arrived about 1:30 p.m. and accreditation started at 2:00 p.m.
Shortly after emerging winner of the primary, Oguntodu said it was undemocratic for a few persons to decide the destiny of aspirants.
Many members of the party were disenfranchised, according to Ogundotu.
“Buhari should sign the amended Electoral Act into law. Democracy is about the will of the people. Leaving a few people to decide is not good.”
