Alleged Doguwa murder case: Fish out masterminds – Election observers tell police

Although the alleged case of killing of voters during the presidential and National Assembly elections in Tudun Wada Local Government Area, involving the House Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, is still before the court, a coalition of INEC-accredited observer groups has urged the Kano State Police Command to unravel the true masterminds of the killings.

The Nigeria Police had filed a six-count culpable homicide case against the House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa.

However, the INEC-accredited elections observers coalition in Kano said the real masterminds should be unravelled.

The chairman of the coalition, Dr. Ibrahim Baba, made the call at a press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre, Kano,on Friday.

Baba said the killers should be fished out and prosecuted to deter others whom he alleged are also planning to unleash civil unrest during tomorrow’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

He commended the people of Tudun Wada and the entire Rano Emirate for not embarking on rampage to protest the incident that occurred on February 26, 2023.

The coalition called on the people of the state to come out en masse on Saturday to elect candidates of their choice, adding that it is their fundamental constitutional right to do so.

“They should also report any forms of violence in their respective areas during the elections, to the appropriate authorities,”the coalition said, while also urging the people of the area to be on the lookout for the concluding part of the House of Representatives elections to be held in 13 polling units in Tudun Wada Local Government Area.
