7 Nigerian Musicians From Ebonyi State (Photos)

#1. Crayon

Charles Chibueze Chukwu was born on November 21, 2000. He was born into a family of four with his parents having music talents. Crayon developed an early interest in music during his high school. His role models and the musicians he claims to draw inspirations from are the likes of Fela, Tuface, Drake, Justin Bieber, Wizkid, Davido and Bryson.

Signed to Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint label under Mavin Records owned by ace producer Baby Fresh. Crayon’s music style is colorful and loved by many and adding that he is a young lad with so much potential in the industry.

Crayon originally hails from Ebonyi state but grew up in Iba area in Lagos State.

His debut EP, Cray Cray was successful and has continued warming our hearts with his good times.

Crayon’s career started after he was signed to leading Nigeria record label, Mavin Records in May 2019. Did n Jazzy announced his signing on social media. His singing pattern is termed colorful mixing elements of pop, Afro oriented sounds, Latino music and carribean sounds into his artistry. Crayon was a friend to Nigerian hit maker Ozedikus and recorded in his studio and that was how he was discovered by Mavin producer. 

Baby Fresh heard one of his fine tunes and knew he was a high potential and Crayon became the first artist to be signed under the producer’s Blowtime Entertainment. Crayon’s first appearance was in the Mavins All-star track “All is in Order” released on June 2019 with Rema, Don Jazzy, Korede Bello, DNA all making appearances. 

He released his debut EP titled “Cray Cray” on July 2019. The success of the music project took the young lady high and into the hearts of music lovers. The six tracks of the EP (Aye, Gock Am, Bamiloke, So Fine, Unusual and Confidence) were all well received by fans.

Crayon released the visuals for “So Fine” which did well enough going almost 3 million views currently. He released “Kpano” in February 2020 which was produced by Ozedikus. He also released visuals for it the same day. “Shima” was his follow up track in March 2020.

#2. Patoranking

Patoranking, whose real name Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, is a popular songwriter and performer in the reggae-dancehall genre.

The singer hails from Ebonyi State. He was born in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town. Later he moved to Ebute Metta in Lagos. Patoranking was a student of Citizen Comprehensive College Epe and Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri. He was born on the 27th of May 1990, so he is 31 years old.

Patoranking moved towards the current success gradually. He began with street performances and carnival dances.

Many fans are interested in the origin of the Patrick’s stage name. It was given to him by a Jamaican artiste whom they met in Lagos.

Patoranking said in an interview that he found the inspiration in works of such artistes as Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, Chaka Demus, Majek Fashek, Blackky, Blackface, Tuface and Marvelous Benjy. His music touches on many important socio-political problems. He organically combines fun melodies and rhythms with serious, deep topics.

He thinks that the song “Alubarika” is a reflection of his entire creative life. Also this composition is important because thanks to it the extensive fan base and offers on cooperation with many well-known musicians appeared in Patoranking’s life.

In 2014, he signed a contract with Foston Musik. On May 19, 2014, “Girlie O Remix” featuring Tiwa Savage was released. This song was on the 9th place in the MTV Base’s Official Naija Top 10 chart. 2015 was extremely successful for the singer. His song “Daniella Whine” and “My Woman, My Everything” got to the MTV base Official Naija Top 10 Chart. In 2016, Patoranking became one of the judges of singing contest The Voice Nigeria. 1st August 2016, his first studio album “God Over Everything” was released. Phyno, Wizkid, Sarkodie, Olamide, Elephant Man, and Wasiu Ayinde Marshall were featured in the album.

Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie is a proud winner of the following awards which include Ben TV 2014 for Best New Act, Best Collaboration, Best Reggae/Dancehall, The Headies 2014 for Next Rated, Best Collabo for “Emergency”, Best Reggae/Dancehall Single for “Girlie O Remix”, City People Entertainment Awards 2014 for Dancehall/Reggae Act of the Year, 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards for Best New Act of the Year, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 for African Artiste Of The Year, Mtvbase Awards 2015 for Best New Act, Tooxlusive Awards 2015 for Best Afropop Song for “My Woman My Everything,” AFRIMA 2016 for Best Dancehall Artist for “No Kissing Baby.”

Augustine Miles Kelechi, born December 17, 1992, popularly known by his stage name Tekno Miles or Tekno, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, producer, performer and dancer. He is a descent of Ebonyi state. He was born in Bauchi, Bauchi State, Nigeria.

He grew up in several parts of the country including Nassarawa, Kaduna and Abuja due to the fact that his father was a member of the Nigerian Army. At the age of 8, Tekno Miles was enrolled in a music school where he learnt and mastered the rudiments of playing the piano and guitar.

Tekno Miles was first signed under K-Money Entertainment. His first single titled “Holiday” was released under the imprint. With featured vocals from Davido, “Holiday” was positively accepted and gained massive airplay.

In 2012 while in Abuja, Tekno Miles was spotted by renowned Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu at an event after Tekno Miles received a standing ovation following the performance of a song titled “Onye Ne Kwu”, his remix of Ice Prince’s “Oleku”. It was at the same event he met Iyanya and Ubi Franklyn, the manager of Made Men Music Group who he became friends with. Ubi and Iyanya eventually encouraged Tekno Miles to move to Lagos to further his music career.

On October 5, 2013, he signed a music contract with Made Men Music Group under which he released singles like “Dance” and “Anything” which won him a nomination in the “Best New act of the Year” category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. On June 18, 2015, Tekno Miles released a song titled “Duro” which was positively received. A remix which featured Phyno and Flavour N’abania was released on November 16, 2015. “Duro” was produced by DJ Coublon. It topped several charts in Nigeria and on the international scene, it peaked at #5 on Capital XTRA’s “Afrobeats Chart: Top 10” for September 2015. On November 20, 2015, Tekno Miles released a single titled “Wash”. The song was produced by DJ Coublon with the video directed by AJE Films.

#4. Spotless

Spotless whose real name is Augustine Uche is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer from Ebonyi state part of Nigeria.

He is Tekno’s kid brother and a last child from a family of 8.

Spotless musical influenced is from watching his dad play the guitar at very tender age.

He also plays other musical instruments such as Piano and drums. He is a younger brother to the popular Nigerian ace Musician Tekno.

Spotless came to limelight with his official debut single “Take Am” which also has a remix featuring the musical taliban Oritse Femi.

Spotless is signed to a Lagos based Music Company, Mocking Bird Records led by Ade Ogunlesi.

#5. Sinach

Sinach whose real name is Osinach Joseph, is an award winning Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter born on March 30, 1973.

Sinach is the second daughter in a family of seven and originally hails from Ebonyi state, eastern part of Nigeria.

She studied Physics at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state. She’s one of the most celebrated Nigerian gospel singers with many accolades to her name.

Sinach is quite beautiful and talented and that is well complimented with her lots of achievements. She became the first Nigerian gospel singer to record over 100 million views on YouTube and the third Nigerian singer to achieve that after Davido and Yemi Alade who got that in December 2018.

Sinach started singing as a hobby while being a choir member at Christ Embassy and then continued as a worship leader, singing at Church services, healing programs, Total experience and programs organized by the Church. She has written over 300 songs which include; Awesome God, More of You, Born to win, All I See Is You, Jesus is Alive, Presence of the Lord and son.

She has also performed in several countries such as Kenya, South Afria, United States, Canada, Zambia and so on.

Sinach is a recipient of numerous awards which include Best Female Gospel Artiste of The Year at Nigeria Gospel Music Awards, Best Female Vocalist at Nigeria Gospel Music Awards,2016 LIMA Songwriter of the Decade Awardc, Groove Awards ‘Western Africa Artist Of The Year, 2016 African Achievers Award for Global Excellence.

Sinach got married to her Christ Embassy’s pastor, Joseph Ogbu on June 28, 2014 and their union is blessed with wonderful child.

#6. Krizbeatz

Chris Alvin Sunday professionally known as Krizbeatz or KrizBeatz the drummer Boy, is a Nigerian record producer best known for producing Tekno his first single “Pana.”

He was born to Ebonyi parents and grew up in Ibadan.

Ranked 3rd on Pulse Nigeria’s 2016 list of “Top 5 Best Nigerian Music Producers,” KrizBeatz has worked majorly with Yemi Alade including several artistes like Oyibo Rebel, Skales, Lil Kesh and Koker while also releasing his own single titled “Erima” and the hit single “911” featuring Yemi Alade and Harmonize which further pushed his career to limelight. The song “911” currently has over 13 million views on YouTube.

#7. Splash

Genevieve Nwadinma Ogbuewu well known by her stage name as Splash is a Nigerian Artiste, Rapper, Singer, Songwriter, Model, and Stage Performer born on 27 November 1987. She originally hails from Ebonyi State in the south eastern part of Nigeria, though Splash was born and raised in Enugu State, Nigeria. She is presently 33 years old.

Genevieve Nwadinma obtained her Primary (FSLC) and Secondary (WASSC) School Education at Enugu State. She proceeded to Ebonyi State University in Abakaliki and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language. She is very beautiful, gifted, skillful, creative and talented. She is well known for her ability to rap in the Igbo language.

Splash started her Musical Career after she relocated to Lagos some years back, where she worked with top Musicians and Producers in the Nigerian Music industry. She presently signed to August Pee Entertainment. She became famed after signing a record distribute undertaking with August Pee Entertainment in Lagos, Nigeria. The beautiful rapper splash, rap mostly in the Igbo language grew up listening to the likes of “Jay Z”, “Kenya West”, “Eminem”, “Mode 9” E.t.c. Splash mission in the music industry is to take over and rule as a leading rapper not just for ladies but the entire music industry.

In 2012, Genevieve Nwadinma Ogbuewu stood up to renown after releasing her hit single “Church Agbasa”, a song that made her a public figure . The song “Church Agbasa” topped many charts in Nigeria and received several positive reviews and commercial success. Splash has featured alongside with serveral Music top Stars which include; “Nigga Raw”, “Phyno”, “Flavour”, “Selebobo J Martins”, “Zoro”, “Wizboy”, E.t.c. she is one of the talented Nigerian Rapper with amazing voice and stylish music attitude.

Splash has released numerous Songs which includes Onye Ije, Church Agbasa, Na God, Ogologo, Obim, Come Over, Good Die Young, Ego Uwa, Nwata Ji Nku E.t.c. In cause of her Musical Career splash has been nominated for Best New Act to Watch, Best Indigenous Rapper at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, City People Entertainment Awards.
