Former Arsenal forward, Ian Wright has hailed the performance of Eddie Nketiah in Arsenal 3-2 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners returned to their five points lead in the Premier League summit after beating Erik ten Hag’s side at the Emirates Stadium.
Manchester City defeated Wolves 3-0 in an earlier match to close the gap to just 2 points and Mikel Arteta’s men knew exactly what was at stake and delivered in front of their fans.
Eddie Nketiah, who is playing the position of Gabriel Jesus after the Brazil forward was injured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, netted twice to ensure maximum point for the Gunners.
Nketiah’s double strike meant that the striker, who was drafted in as replacement for Jesus, has netted 8 goals for the league leaders in the Premier League.
Speaking about the player after the game, Wright told Premier League Productions, “I’m very pleased with him. Arsenal has got a lot of faith in him, that is why they offered him the new contract and I’m very happy he signed it.
“He knew he had to be behind Gabriel Jesus and he needed to buy his time in the absence of Gabriel Jesus.
“That’s why I was disappointed against Tottenham. These are the types of games you need to score goals so you’d give the manager that problem so that when Jesus comes back [the manager would have the problem of selection] .
“Even though Jesus does probably come back in, I’m delighted for him [Nketiah] .”
