Former Aston Villa striker, Gabby Agbonlahor has questioned Cristiano Ronaldo’s attitude towards Manchester United.
The 37-year-old did not take part in the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.
He later returned to training and took part in the team’s friendly game against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
However, the Portugal international shocked the football World when he left Old Trafford at half-time of the 1-1 draw.
United manager, Erik ten Hag later described the player’s action as unacceptable.
Manchester United begin their 2022-23 season with a game away to Brighton and Agbonlahor noted that the former Real Madrid man would want to play every game.
He pointed out that allowing the Portuguese to stay at Old Trafford would do more harm to the club and their rebuilding process than good.
He told talkSPORT: “I think it will be a problem. Ronaldo will want to play every game, he won’t want to be brought off.
“When I look at it, Ten Hag says ‘Ronaldo needs a lot of training, needs a lot of games and is not as fit as other players’. What has he been doing in Portugal when the rest of the squad were in Australia. What has he been doing?
“Leaving the game early, where are they going? Going to lunch? It doesn’t make sense to leave a game. What are they rushing home for?”
