The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old teacher for allegedly defiling four pupils.
The young students – aged eight, nine, 12 and 14, respectively – are sisters from the same father.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, in a statement on Tuesday, identified the suspect as Abubakar Muhammed.
The spokesperson said he was nabbed on March 7 at about 11am following complaints from the pupils’ father, Adamu Ali.
The father reported that the sexual assault was perpetrated between January and March 2023.
Muhammed resides in Malam-inna quarters and committed the offence at the Islamiyya school located in the same community.
The police said the victims were taken to a hospital for medical examination, disclosing that the suspect confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
The PRO further announced that arrest of three men for allegedly defiling three sisters aged 12, 15 and 17.
The matter was reported by the girls’ father Aliyu Adamu of Malam-inna quarters and one Alhaji Abba attached to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Gombe State.
The suspects, Sani Adamu, 50; Adamu Muhammed, 40, and Bakura Muhammed, 30, confessed to the crime and would soon face prosecution.
