Kwara APC will sanction unruly members if found culpable – Caretaker Chairman, Samari
Chairman of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Samari Abubakar, has said that sanctions will be applied on members bent on destabilizing the party in the state.
Addressing newsmen at the NUJ press centre in Ilorin, on Monday, on the procedure for the registration and revalidation of party members, Samari, condemned the reported violence in parts of Edu Local Government of the state.
He said ‘Even as we await full briefings on what truly happened, violence under whatever guise is unacceptable.”
The caretaker chairman, called on security agencies to promptly arrest and prosecute anyone involved in unleashing violence on the people.
He dismissed the rumours that some members of the party have been suspended amidst the crisis that has engulfed the party.
“Suspension is rumour, I don’t think anybody has so far been suspended.
“But if, we can confirm that a particular person violates the party’s rules and regulations, I don’t think there is anything wrong in applying punitive measures.”
Samari, said the registration and revalidation exercise will take place across 1,872 polling units in the 16 local governments of the state.
He said “existing and intending members are to visit their respective polling units with two passport photographs and their voter’s card.
Samari, said the party has set up a standing committee to ensure prompt resolutions of any development anywhere in the state.
