The Nigerian Army has appointed Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima as its Director of Public Relations.

NAN reports that Yerima will be replacing Brig.-Gen. Sagir Musa, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontagora in Niger State.

A top military personnel who spoke in anonymity told newsmen that the Chief of Army Staff said the move became necessary to reposition the information units of the Nigerian Army.

Before his new appointment, Yerima was at the PR unit of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

He was also Military Spokesperson for the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone from 2000 to 2002.
