The Corps Commander of the Western Nigeria Security Agency, Amotekun Osun, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi has announced that the security outfit has commenced search for a kidnapped herdman, Muhammad Jubril.
Jubril, aged 30, was abducted at about 1:40am on Wednesday from his Ago-Igbira Fulani settlement in Ila-Orangun, Osun State by unknown gunmen.
Bashir while addressing journalists in Osogbo revealed that personnel of the corps were in search of the kidnapped victim.
According to him. “A distress call was placed to the Osun State Security Network, Amotekun office Ila at 1:40 am by the Seriki Fulani of Ago Igbira settlement that some Bororo have invaded them and kidnapped one Muhammed Jubril and immediately the Field Commander of Amotekun, Commander Olusoji Akanni mobilized the operatives of Amotekun from Ifedayo and Boluwaduro Local Government to join up with the operatives at Ila Local Government for a rescue operation.
“Operatives of Amotekun swung into action immediately and combed the forest all night till they got to Ago Inisha in Kwara State where the hunters, VGN, Agbekoya, and Kiriji Security joined up with our operatives to comb the forest.
“The combing continued to Arandun where our operatives made an entry at Arandun Police Station. The hunters in Arandun also joined up and the combing continued to Igbo Orile in Kwara State.
“Searching continues and we assure residents of Osun State that there will be no hiding place for any criminal in the State,” Adewinmbi Concluded.
Also, the Osun State Police Command has corroborated the information about the kidnapping of Muhammad Jubril on Wednesday morning.
In a statement made available by the Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the victim was kidnapped by unknown gunmen numbering about eight.
She revealed that after a thorough search of the area, three expended shells of AK47 rifle and cartridges were recovered from the scene of the kidnapping.
