Jechira Traditional Council has expressed warm appreciation to Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom for the ongoing construction of the road from Vandeikya town to the Palace of Tor Jechira, His Royal Highness, Clement Uganden.

In a letter of appreciation signed by Chief Clement Uganden and presented to the Governor on Monday, January 24th, 2022 at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi, the traditional council also expressed gratitude for the selection of Chief Uganden as First Class Chief.

The letter reads in parts: “My ancestral home where my Palace is located is 3.5 Kilometers from the town and because of the nature of the road, it’s always in a very bad and horrible state. Many a time I have not been able to attend some functions especially in the rainy season.

“I was therefore over-excited when two months ago, I saw a contractor mobilizing on the site. In the period of these two months, the level, quality and speed of construction is beyond my wildest imagination, hopes and prayers.

He continued, “The quality of roads hitherto being seen and enjoyed only in the state capital and major towns of Otukpo and Gboko has reached my domain in Vandeikya and its rural setting. The people are so happy because many have not seen that type of road in our town except the Federal road that passes through it to Cross River State.

“Only a person like you who has the interest of the common man and sense of fairness and equity would have thought of us in this way. We are indeed grateful,” the traditional council stated.

The Jechira Traditional Council through the First Class Chief stated further that within the last five years, it has learnt the virtues of forgiveness, selflessness, participatory democracy as well as love honour for the traditional institution.

While pledging their loyalty and support to the administration of Governor Ortom, the traditional council prayed God to continue to guide, protect and give the Governor wisdom to continue to serve his people.

Governor Ortom in his response expressed happiness to the traditional rulers for the support the Jechira intermediate Traditional council gave him during the 2019 general election.

He pledged his commitment to continue to deliver good governance to the people of the state in the remaining part of his administration.

The Tor Jechira was accompanied on the visit by Ter Kyor, HRH Jam Gbinde; Ter Kunav, HRH Joseph Achiaku and other third-class traditional rulers in the Jechira intermediate area.
