The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu has said state governors are in a better position to tackle the issue of , armed robbery and banditry in Nigeria.

Kalu said state governors should quickly arise to tackle the issue of kidnapping, banditry and general insecurity in the country.

The former governor of Abia State spoke during a courtesy call on Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in Lokoja, NAN reports.

“The alarming cases of kidnapping, banditry and armed robbery across the country in recent times is very worrisome.

“The governors remain the best leaders that could effectively use their positions to remedy the situation,” he said.

The former governor commended Bello for ensuring the security of lives and property in Kogi, calling on other governor’s to emulate him.

“Kogi is most peaceful under the leadership of Gov. Yahaya Bello. The harmonious coexistence among the various ethnic groups in the state attests to this and this is worthy of emulation,” he said.

The Senate Chief Whip also commended Bello for empowering youths and women by creating opportunities for them in his government.

The issue of banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery have been on the front burner lately.
