We are fully set for tomorrow’s rerun election in Taraba – INEC

Plans for a hitch-free supplementary election for Takum/Donga/Ussa federal constituency in Taraba State have been concluded, says the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Umar Mukhtar Gajiram, who disclosed this on Friday, during an interview with DAILY POST in Jalingo, said adequate plans to ensure a hitch-free exercise have been put in place by the Commission.

The REC who spoke through the Commission’s Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Rachael Iyongo, said the supplementary election slated for Saturday, the 14th of April, will take place in some polling units in the affected councils.

During the just concluded elections, results from some polling units of the three local government councils were declared inconclusive, hence the decision of the Commission to conduct a supplementary election.

Areas, where the rerun is to be conducted, include, Chanchanji, Rogo, Fete, Shibong Wards of Takum and Lissam, Kwesati and Kwambai Wards of Ussa Local Government Areas of the State.

The Commission also said it has deployed well-trained INEC Ad-hoc staff with sensitive materials to the affected areas to ensure the successful conduct of the election.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, are the three registered political parties that will be participating in the exercise.
