Leaders of the Enugu North Senatorial District said on Thursday that they are solidly behind their son and Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in all that he has done to deepen development in the state
They stated that the Ugwuanyi signature projects are littered all over the zone, adding that no governor had made imprints in the zone beyond the governor.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, the leaders said they would at all times support the future aspiration of the governor, saying that he has transformed and repositioned Enugu north for greatness.
Spokesperson for Leaders of the zone, Chief Okwu Ugwuja said that with the transformation brought to Enugu north senatorial zone by Ugwuanyi, the area now has the potential of a state capital.
“We have not had it this good. I can recall that the first time an Nsukka man became governor in Enugu, he left us without any project. In fact, the only road he attempted to do in Nsukka ended up at the grading level, thereby creating dusts and more erosion challenges for our people.
“Under Ugwuanyi, however, that road is today dualized and fitted with street lights. Aside from this road, so many other roads in the zone are wearing new looks. Areas which were hitherto neglected in the zone can now be accessed due to good and motorable roads.
“There is a football stadium in Nsukka which ranks among the best in the country. He has built state secretariat annex, he has rehabilitated hospitals, rebuilt judiciary complexes as well as several jobs opportunities for our people.
“He capped up his excellent works in the zone with the establishment of a state of the art School of Medical Sciences. That school is the second after the UNN brought to Nsukka by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe in the zone He has also empowered our people in several areas. Today other zone are using the empowerment he attracted to our area to fight against us and criticize him. But that will not deter us from giving him the honour due to him,” he said.
Ugwuja said that Ugwuanyi’s legacies in Enugu state traversed the two other zones of Enugu East and West, stressing that has remained a testimony in human and infrastructure empowerment.
“Do we talk about the peace that has been acknowledged nationwide by Nigerians that Enugu is the most peaceful state in the country. That when there was rising insecurity such as killings and kidnappings in several states, many Nigerians struggled to relocate to the state because of its peaceful nature.
“Ugwuanyi has brought governance with human face; governance away from only the reach of the rich and privileged few in the society to the common and neglected people of the society. He will continue to enjoy the support and prayers of the people of Enugu north senatorial zone,” he added.
