Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on Tuesday said electricity supply to the city of Maiduguri will be restored in the next 30 days.
Zulum stated this while presenting the 2022 appropriation bill at the state House of Assembly.
Recall that Maiduguri, the Borno State capital has been without electricity supply since the beginning of the year, causing untold hardship for the citizens.
The blackout followed the destruction of electricity transmission towers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, allegedly by Boko Haram insurgents in January.
Many attempts by the government to restore the electricity supply in the past met a brick wall but Zulum said this time, the government will take measures to see to the ending of the continued darkness in the state.
Reports said the blackout has continued to affect residents, businesses as well as some government agencies whose works solely depend on power.
Public institutions in the state have spent millions of naira buying fuel for heavy-duty generators for power to conduct its affairs.
