Manchester United’s January signing, Wout Weghorst, has said it was ‘special’ for him to score his first Red Devils goal during his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
Weghorst, who joined Manchester United on loan from Burnley, scored his team’s second goal against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
His teammates Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes also scored for Erik ten Hag’s side.
“A great night for us. A great result, and of course, after this first match, victory is a really good chance to get to the final,” Weghorst told Sky Sports.
“It’s always special, and you want to score goals. You prefer to have this first one as quickly as possible, so I was really happy.”
He added, “I think it was an important moment also. It gave us a good feeling during the break.”
