The Osun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Paul Okpe, has appealed to motorists and other road users to be cautious so as to minimize loss of lives through road accidents.
Okpe also revealed that his command had embarked on safety-awareness campaigns through meetings with the members of National Union of Road Transport Workers and other relevant stakeholders with a view to reducing carnage on the road.
This was made known in a press release signed by the Sector Public Education Officer, Agnes Ogungbemi and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Saturday.
According to the Okpe, “We just want to implore our motorists and all roads users to please be cautious during this festive season.
“It’s who is alive that celebrates. Everybody must take necessary precautions so as to minimize accidents on our roads and by so doing, avoiding loss of lives and property.”
The Sector Commander also disclosed that he and his men have been working round the clock by moving from one park to another campaigning against the danger of using worn out tyres, overloading, speeding, consumption of alcohol before and while driving, as well as the use of dangerous drugs.
“In order to ensure that the campaign is successful, men of the command have been deployed to all roads in the State so as to ensure safety compliance.
“In addition, the FRSC in the State would be working in conjunction with other security outfits in a bid to ensuring that the yuletide is hitch-free,” he said.
While expressing optimism that everything would turn out well at the end, the FRSC Osun Sector Commander assured that various units of the Corps in the State have swung into action
